So Sister Fairbanks and I are staying here another transfer! Her last! My second companion in a row going home. And between christmas conference musical practices, divisions, christmas conference, christmas, her going home early to start school at BYU the 29th..this transfer is going to FLY.
Edilene and Evandro and their two daughters Ingrid and Jennifer are doing fantastic, its an amazing miracle! Its really the best teaching full families, sometimes its a challenge trying to focus on the needs of all of them but really the gospel is for families.
I dont know if I already mentioned Dil(one of our favorite recent converts) and her nephew David who is 11. We are teaching him and he just just the dang cutest. He comes from a rough family who drinks and isnt exactly the best influence but he looks up alot to his aunt and we do too! We teach him very simply, which sometimes can even be harder than teaching full doctrine lessons. We mark stories in the Book of Mormon for him to read and he always reads and prays! The other day we asked him about how his reading went and I opened up his Book of Mormon to find this adorable bookmark he had made aall by himself without anobody mentioning to him all cut and colored and on the back it said "read and pray to see if the Book of Mormon is True" tender moments on the missions.
We are having a little difficulty teaching Moroni because he is almost completely deaf and only reads lips and well, our american accents dont exactly line up with how he is used to reading. But step by step we are helping him learn and helping Meire back into the process, with help from our amazing mission mother Sister Fortunato.
Thursday we had leadership counsel and it was fantastic as always. Our mission made incredible improvements in lessons taught and baptisms and we talked for a while about why we had improved and how we can do better. We were taught about the new initiative He Is the Gift which is going to be awesome. The church is sure putting a lot of focus into this with the display on Time Square and the front page of youtube! What an epic Christmas!
Speaking of Christmas, the musical is coming along fantastically. This year I think will even be better than last year, our mission has some serious talent. I am super excited. I feel bad for my companion sitting through rehearsals that take all pday long..but. She gets to hear incredible music and be blessed so it all works out right! The theme is pioneers, and obiously Christmas. Sister Fortunato found some cool medleys such as Savior Redeemer of My Soul and Called to Serve and Praise to the Man with Bring the World His Truth. Its hard not to get into the spirit of Christmas singing christmas music all day long!
Happy Thanksgiving and the beginning of the best time of the year!
