We had such a great week! The start of our week was with a district meeting and Elder do Carmo left the district a challenge to improve in three things, read the Book of Mormon for 15 minutes every morning and 10 every night and use the power of the Book of Mormon more with our investigators, be more diligent and we did a huge group fast as a district with our investigators.
The challenge worked. We had 7 investigators at church yesterday, and many were surprises that we werent expecting that the members had brought! Transfers are tomorrow but we have a casal getting ready for baptism this Saturday, and this Sunday Heroino and Andre passed the sacrament! I really learned this week a great deal about how it is after all that we can do, God comes in.
Thursday night we were teaching Ellesangela and Joao who live on the very end of our area, on top of a dirt hill that can only be accessed by foot, and she works at a local grocery store so we have to visit around 7:30-8:00 which makes arriving in our house at 9:00 difficult sometimes. Well this Thursday Ellesangela really opened up and we had an amazingly spiritual lesson, however we left her house at 9:00 because we were talking and sharing and just lost track of time. At the absolute latest, we need to be home by 9:30, and well, we were a good 45 minute walk home.
We panicked a little but realized it would be possible with a bus. We rushed to the nearest stop on the main road and decided to wait at each stop along the way for 2 minutes, slowly making our way home and cutting down time while we wait. Well, thanks to my very faulted logic I had us go to the next stop too soon and well. The bus came and left depsite by crazy arm flagging down solicitaion. So we missed it. Frustrated we asked a man on the street when the next bus comes and he said another 10-15 minutes, which would put us right on the border of the time limit.
So we decided to just RUN. With scripture filled bags, blistered feet and exhausted bodies we just ran and the moment I stopped looking back for a bus and just ran a bus came, the driver saw us booking it and stopped for us. We hurried on, and arrived home just in time to be in our apartment before 9:30.
It was a miracle, the minute we decided to just do everything in our power and put our whole force in, God send a nice man on a bus to save us.
2 Nephi 25:23 "For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also
our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do."
Have a lovely week!
