Okay you are all probably tired of me saying that "this has been a crazy week" because seriously EVERY week is crazy.
Last pday was Sister Rodriguez's birthday, but Sister Fairbanks and I were to spend the entire day at the central chapel practicing for the Christmas musical. Along with many other Elders and the assistants. So I thought it would be fun to mess with her a little! So I asked our friend Elder Marsh a favor to call Sister Rodriguez and tell her she was transferred, she freaked out a little, he said it was for her to be at the bus station downtown in an hour, she freaked out a little more and then we all broke out in Happy Birthday.
It was fantastic. But maybe somethings are only funny on the mission.
Anyways. Tuesday, like I mentioned last week I was super sick, stress and exhaustion mixed with a cold and well, I spend two days at home resting. After some rest we started working again but just hit more walls. We are having trouble working in harmony with the ward and strengthing the many many recent converts we have, helping them build habits(studying the scriptures and praying) and helping the ward become more involved. Its difficult trying to carry burdens of others on top of our own.
Our amazing golden invetigator Lucia who doesnt go a day without reading the Book of Mormon, who has a strong desire to be baptized..well..we found out the other day that she isnt legally married. So. We need to marry her first to her husband of more than 40 years and THEN baptize her. Sadly, Sister Fairbanks wont be here to see it since she goes home in two weeks.
Saturday while in a more sketchy area a dog randomly ran up to me, and took a chunk of my skirt and ran away. I almost had a heart attack but thankfully he bit below the knee(because, you know, holes in skirts are not very helpful) and didnt bite my skin. Good times.
And, just Silvana came to church Sunday. We were having a bit of a hard time, but we came across the scripture passage in Alma where he went through the same thing, and his best friend angel visited him saying that he was blessed and should be happy because he had been faithful and he should go back and try again.
So Monday we went on exchanges with Nova Lima, which was one of our best divisions, (and it doesnt hurt that Nova Lima is the prettiest city in the mission), Tuesday we went with the Sisters in our ward and Sister Fairbanks visited all of our investigators who by a miracle all had change of hearts and are more opened minded! Let it be known the scriptures tell the truth.
Pday was switched to Wednesday this week so we could practice one last time for our Conference tomorrow. They put our selections with videos of the pioneers during Come Come Ye Saints, Christ in the Americas during This is the Christ..etc..its going to be a powerful program.
So Christmas is approaching and we are super excited! Okay I am more excited for our musical conference than Christmas since Christmas is pday and we are basically going to just stay home, but its still the most wonderful time of the year.
Fun story. Sunday night we went downtown to make street contacts(dont ask me why) while waitng for our bus to Nova Lima and we met LOTS of crazy people. One man was walking through the masses yelling watches for sale watches for sale who wants one!? But saw us and said but not you two, its sunday you CANT BUY THEM. It was pretty funny. He at least knew who we were and what we believe!
Tchau tchau!Sister Holmes
