We had a fantastic week this week! The last three pdays have been spent in the chapel close to the mission home-a two hour bus ride away- practicing the music for the Christmas conference. Though three whole pdays and lots of email time somehow really is a big sacrifice as a missionary it is more than worth it! The spirit is really so strong with music, I owe a great part of my tesimony to the power of music.
After three months, it still hasnt completely settled in that I really am in Brasil, as a missionary. Somehow I dont think it will until I go home and realize that its all over!
Because of practicing, I have very limited time. But dont worry, I am being fed well here. Monday we got churros filled with chocolate from Georgie-a man who owns a churro stand in Belo Horizonte, I bought churrasco-amazing BBQ steak kabob for $2-and better than any steak I have ever had. And while at Daniellas house her son went and picked tons of mangos from a nearby tree, which were also the best mangos I have ever had. Needless to say, the food here is great. Only in Brasil can you go find a perfect mango tree and eat to your consent and then go buy a meals worth of steak for less than two dollars.
There is so much work to do here, we have one of the only branches in the mission, and probably the most difficult of them all. But this is our purpose here! 6 missionaries in one branch is a lot, our area is huge-more than 100000 people!
There is work to be done! The Lord is calling and I must go!
Abraços,
Sister Holmes
