I AM IN BRAZIL! Its crazy really. It looks so much like California, you could tell me I was in San Diego and I would believe you.
The food that I have had so far is amazing. Its all fresh and unprocessed, the fruit is to die for, lots of guarana, rice, beans, meat and I put cilantro on everything.
This MTC is worlds different from Provo, both have their strengths, I love it here but I am so grateful I am only here for two weeks. The food here is better, my room is much nicer, we get to go out shopping in Sao Paulo for a few hours every Pday, we get to go to the Sao Paulo temple on pdays and are surrounded by portuguese which is helpful but also really intimidating. Apparently the Brazilian missionaries are not known for being obedient so they are very strict here, and since there are only a few hundred of us versus a few thousand it is much easier to do enforce the rules. But, only about a week more and I will be in Belo Horizonte! We can only take pictures in the MTC and only on Pday, so I won't have any pictures until I get to my mission, but its only a week and half more, I can do anything for a week and a half!
I love my new district here, there is one Elder from my branch in Provo who got his visa a few weeks ago, an Elder from my district that I flew here with and my companion is Sister Gustafson! Its crazy really. So much fun, I love it.
The Sao Paulo temple is definitely one of my new favorites. The stained glass work is breathtaking, when you walk in there is this huge piece of the Savior coming to the Americas. Plus, most of the interior is mahogany with gold, its really pretty.
There isn't as much musical opportunity here but I fixed the MTC flute, it was very broken and I fixed it! Felt kinda cool about that. The MTC president's wife wants me to play at a devotional coming up. Its so odd that the MTC presidency is so available here because there are so few missionaries, you would never just go run into to or go talk to the presidency in Provo.
I have like no time today, so thats all I can say.
But, I love Brazil, I love portuguese and I can't wait to get into the field!
