What an epic week! Our family home evening went great, Maria wasnt able to go because Solto couldnt bring her downtown so we brought Carol our recent convert instead, who adored President and Sister Fortunato. (Who doesnt really) Sister Fortunato gave an amazing message on choices, and then we played a game about choices with them and their eldest daughter Barbara. She made a list of fruits, and the first person picks a fruit, but doesnt tell anybody and goes around asking everybody what fruit they picked. But the person who finally guesses right receives the joy of getting painted on with lipstick by the person who chose the fruit! So basically you dont want to guess right or you get lipstick on your face. By the end our faces had lipstick glasses and freckles and stars and lines and I will tell you it was a HOOT. President had ordered enough pizza for three families and Sister Fortunato made a chocolate cake rich enough to feed the country. We went home in a taxi happy and with full bellies! Carol is so awesome, she has been baptized for less than a month and is already going out with us helping others! She bears a powerful testimony and she really wants to serve a mission and got to talk to President Fortunato about that.
The next morning we got ready and went back downtown for my first leadership counsel. Let me tell you leadership counsels are super fancy. I felt very humble walking in. They had set up the chapel with chairs and low spotlights and soft music. The meeting/discussion lasted from 9-3 including a beautiful lunch, and the announcement that we are finally going to have mission tour!! After so many cancellations!! Elder Antunes is coming and he is a very active and vibrant speaker and we were told its going to be a mission tour full of practices and participation. We are stoked! President talked about the importance and power of an example and we left the meeting empowered to say the least.
About a week ago we met a big group of young people who all work at a bakery and a bunch of them went to conference! Its a ton of fun teaching bakers, I will say that, but its not very good for my waistline! Conference was absolutely AMAZING as we all know. We had different investigators at every session, and it seemed they attended the session perfectly prepared for them! I cut up some pictures and made conference bingo for the kids and we ended up using bingo for our investigators too. I loved that they had the speakers speak in their native language, and we were super excited to hear Elder Godoy, his talk was in portguese and one of my favorites of the session!
This week is Sister Amados last week on the mission so I am getting ready for a flood of miracles and crazy stories.
Happy October!
