We are officially a stake!! Okay, well not quite, but President Packer approved the papers!! The opening stake conference is marked for the end of August and a counselor in the area presidency is coming for the occasion! It is a huge blessing I am so excited! Nobody knew how fast the papers would go through, but we have been working really hard and tada! Stake time! Its been a really neat experience to be here since before sending in the application to now where its been approved. One more stake here in the mission! I am not sure if I will get to be here for the conference but I can only hope!
We have been invited to really search for families this month, especially men so that many can be ordained to the priesthood at the stake conference, and an amazing member Terezinha offered to take us to one of her friends Ellesangela. Terezinha has been taking over missionaries for years, to find a crying baby, them not home, or Joao the husband drunk. However, she took us and we hiked up their huge dirt hill to find the child older and more calm, and Joao now completely sober. We came in right in the most opportune time. They have a very cute little son named Joao Junior, and they came to church yesterday! They work every other Sunday so we have to go slower with them, but its been amazing to find them.
Saturday we did a service project at the High School we met at for church for five months while our new location was being contructed. During the holidays for the world cup(yes the kids get a month off school because of the world cup) we painted the walls and the desks. It was strange wearing pants, but it was great to serve. The principal greeted us in the morning and said that every time we would meet in the high school on Sundays they could feel a special spirit during the week, and when we left they really could tell a difference and missed us being there. Its really cool to know that others can feel the spirit.
Pday got moved to today because of the world cup game, the final is this weekend so I am thinking the craziness will come to an end soon. But mostly we are just so happy that the stake was approved!!
